one down, four to go

yup, our bathroom is finally done!  i say finally as lovingly as i can, as hubby spent hours in there working on it each day after he got home from work.

i love it.

it was a great learning experience for him and i'm hoping that in the next few weeks we can get a babysitter to watch the kiddos, so i can help him conquer the master bedroom bathroom.

i felt so helpless watching him do the bathroom alone, but someone's gotta watch the kids...remember, chicken nugget eats batteries so we gotto keep a real close eye on that one;)

after:

magazine rack look familiar?!?!
it was one of my thrift shop finds a few weeks ago:)

i've said it before, and i'm going to say it again....
my hubby rocks!!

we had to keep the design pretty simple since we will be renting out the condo in a few months.  i think it looks like something out of restoration hardware.

the paint is called stony path from valspar 5007-1b.

the vanity is from home depot, st. paul wyoming 30." came with mirror.

towel rack, target.

shower curtain, thomas o'brien at target.

we are just taking a breather right now.  even doing a small bathroom like the one we just did can really affect the rest of your home.  laundry wasn't done for a week at one point, kitchen was a disaster, vacuuming neglected.

and by four to go...i was also including the home we're moving into.  we do not live in a home with 5 bathrooms...i wouldn't wish that on anyone.  i can barely keep up with cleaning the two that i have right now.

i know i said in my last post that i'll be posting up a simple sewing project, but i gotto nix that until i can clear off the-never-ending-junk-that-accumulates-to-the-point-of-me-wanting-to-get-rid-of-my-table table.

thanks for stopping by...

bathroom ta-daaah

we're all sick over here.

i took dd out of school all week,  i have had weee little time to get on here and blog.

the best i can do right now is update y'all.  (i may or may not have a post tomorrow on green velvet whoopie pies.)

sooo....

we are on our way from bathroom blahs to bathroom ta-daaahs.

vanity gone.  kinda gross what has been left behind over 20 years.

the builders were kind of cheap, couldn't even fill in the entire area with tile.

and, yes, that is a panty liner on the wall....gross!!

hubby called in his one-man-army

patched up holes.  then realized he filled it with wrong material. would have taken years to dry.
he just refilled it with plaster.

$1 bundle of tiles at lowes.  $23 total.  score.

someone (not mentioning any names) backed himself into a corner while laying down the tile.
the ladder was used as an escape route.  totally, my idea.  i'm so smart.

not much else going on.  i'll probably just shoot down to hd tomorrow to get some paint, a new light fixture, and some other bathroom accessories.

hubby's working, so i have to bring the kiddos along with me. crossing fingers they aren't too terribly sick to go out. i'm going crazy in here!!

good night everyone...or two of you that actually read this:)

bathroom blahs

our condo is approximately the same age as myself.  although i am by no means a fashionista, i know that it would be tacky to carry over the same style clothing/hair as they did nearly thirty years ago.

apparently my bathroom never got the memo.

same cream colored vanity.  sink.  tub.  tile.  same....well, everything.  it is the equivalent of
anything having to do with the 80's.

...ok, not that bad.

but still, i hate it.  i have hated it since we bough this place four years ago.  i just got used to it and it just started blending in.  it hasn't been until recently that we have decided to remodel the bathrooms.  we will be moving in a few months, so updating the place will be great practice for when we move into our new home.

we just had a leak coming from the sink valve so no time has been more perfect than now to upgrade.  (plus, we bought two vanities that were on sale the week before from hd.)  seriously, the timing is uncanny.

see what i mean, the eighties  condo special.  the bathtub is fiberglass.  can you believe the people from bath fitter quoted me $4,600 for an acrylic tub and wall?!?!  true story.  and that's with a $500 discount!  with my best jersey accent, "i don't think so!"

who ever puts caulk over grout needs to be brought out back and [ fill in the blank ].

the large mirror was nice when i needed to see where to put lotion on my hidden stretch marks on the pregnant belly.

just a different angle of the caulked/grout floor.

the large and EXTREMELY heavy boxes are cramping my style.

here's what's inside.

i'm excited to see what we'll be doing in here.  my husband is probably the smartest person i know and i'm not saying that because i'm biased.  he really is.  we had organic chemistry together back when we were in college.  he never studied, but always seemed to make me look incredibly dumb even when i spent days studying.  the point i'm getting at is that he can figure anything out.  plumbing, electrical, automotive...he just has a knack for handy work.  plus, he is a perfectionist.  to the point of it being annoying.  so, i know whatever we chose to do in the bathroom and in our future home, he will do an amazing job.

we have neighbors downstairs who are currently upgrading their bathroom, as well.  they are using a company called "the handymen."  they will do anything for $200 a day plus whatever materials you need.  we were thinking about having them tear down everything in the bathroom so we don't have to.  time is important to us right now, so for us to spend a few days tearing everything down and cleaning up is well worth the $200 a day.

perfect timing, again.  chicken nugget just woke up.

thanks for stopping by!
